Race against time: new powder vs. old frozen blood product to save trauma patients
NCT ID NCT05449834
Summary
This large trial aims to find the best way to replace a key blood clotting factor (fibrinogen) in adults with severe traumatic injuries and major bleeding. It will compare a fast-acting powder (fibrinogen concentrate) that can be mixed at the bedside against the standard frozen blood product (cryoprecipitate), which takes longer to prepare. The main goal is to see which treatment helps patients spend more days alive and out of the hospital in the 90 days after their injury.
