First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tests a titanium implant (OPRA) that connects a prosthetic leg directly to the shinbone, avoiding the need for a traditional socket. It involves 30 military members with below-knee amputations who will have two surgeries and be followed for 5 years. The goal is to see if this implant reduces skin problems, improves walking, and boosts quality of life compared to standard prosthetics.
