New injection aims to free patients from High-Dose calcium pills

NCT ID NCT05387070

Summary

This study tested whether a daily injection of a hormone called TransCon PTH could help adults with hypoparathyroidism. The goal was to see if the treatment could help patients maintain normal calcium levels in their blood while stopping or reducing their need for high-dose vitamin D and calcium supplements. For the first 26 weeks, participants were randomly assigned to receive either the real injection or a placebo, and then all participants could receive the real treatment in a long-term follow-up period.
