New powder spray could stop tumor bleeding during endoscopy
NCT ID NCT07540026
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether spraying two common drugs—tranexamic acid and sucralfate—directly onto bleeding gastrointestinal tumors during an endoscopy can stop the bleeding and prevent it from coming back. Researchers will enroll 60 adults with upper GI tumor bleeding and compare the powder spray plus standard care to standard care alone. The main goals are to see if bleeding stops right away and if it returns within 30 days.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
tranexamic acid and sucralfate powder
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, low-cost way to stop bleeding from gastrointestinal tumors during endoscopy and reduce the chance of bleeding again within 30 days.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment is added on top of standard care, and its benefit over standard care alone is not yet proven.
