Could two doses of a common drug cut transfusions in hip fracture surgery?

NCT ID NCT07432737

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether giving two doses of tranexamic acid (a drug that helps blood clot) is better than one dose at reducing blood loss and the need for blood transfusions in older adults having hip fracture surgery. The trial includes 120 people aged 65 and older. Participants will receive either one dose before surgery or two doses (one before and one after). Researchers will track blood loss, transfusions, and safety for up to 90 days after surgery.
