Scientists track 'Superbugs' from birth through Baby's first year

NCT ID NCT06617260

Summary

This study aims to understand how antibiotic-resistant germs are passed from mothers to their newborn babies and how long they last in the family. Researchers will follow 1000 mothers and their infants in Botswana, collecting samples during birth and throughout the baby's first year of life. The goal is to identify factors that increase the risk of spreading these hard-to-treat germs so better prevention methods can be developed.
