Breathing tests could predict safe tracheostomy tube removal

NCT ID NCT07191509

Summary

This study aims to find the best breathing test to predict when it's safe to remove a tracheostomy tube (decannulation) in adults who have had one long-term. Researchers will compare three different breathing methods through the tube before removal and measure lung function before and after the tube is taken out. The goal is to help doctors make better decisions about when tube removal is likely to be successful and safe for patients.
