Doctors test if feeding ICU patients before surgery is safe
NCT ID NCT05906472
Summary
This study aims to find out if continuing tube feeding right up to tracheostomy surgery helps critically ill patients get more nutrition without increasing the risk of food entering their lungs. Researchers will compare two groups: one that stops feeding 6 hours before surgery and one that continues feeding until surgery. The goal is to create better feeding guidelines for ICU patients needing this common procedure.
