Scientists decode scar tissue to fight life-threatening airway narrowing

NCT ID NCT07258784

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at discarded tissue from people with benign tracheal stenosis, a rare condition where the windpipe narrows due to scarring. Researchers will analyze the RNA in the tissue to see which genes are active, comparing scarred areas to healthy tissue. The goal is to better understand what causes the scarring and inflammation, which could lead to better treatments in the future. About 10 participants will provide tissue samples already removed during standard care.
