Life-Saving tourniquets may have a painful price: new study investigates link to chronic pain

NCT ID NCT07475871

Summary

This study aims to understand if the length of time a tourniquet is used to stop bleeding after a severe arm or leg injury is linked to a higher chance of developing long-term pain. Researchers will follow 150 adult patients who needed a tourniquet for up to six months after their injury, tracking their pain levels and recovery. The goal is to gather evidence that could help doctors balance the immediate need to save lives with strategies to reduce future pain and improve patient recovery.
