First seen Dec 10, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This early-stage study tests whether an injection of the drug topotecan into the eye can safely prevent retinal detachment from recurring in people with a condition called proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR). About 50 adults having surgery for retinal detachment will either receive the injection or standard care alone. Researchers will track safety and whether the retina stays attached for 6 months after surgery.
