Eye injection shows promise in preventing repeat retinal detachment

NCT ID NCT06425419

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This early-stage study tests whether an injection of the drug topotecan into the eye can safely prevent retinal detachment from coming back in people with a condition called proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR). About 50 adults having retinal detachment surgery will either receive the injection or standard care alone. Researchers will track side effects and check if the retina stays attached for 6 months after surgery.
