Summary
This pilot study tested whether adding N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) to the medication Topiramate is safe and tolerable for people with alcohol use disorder. Seventeen adults who drank heavily and wanted treatment took either Topiramate plus NAC or Topiramate plus a placebo. The main goal was to check for side effects like trouble thinking, not to measure how well the treatment worked.
