Simple wound treatment slashes Post-Surgery complications in breast cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07434453

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether applying tranexamic acid (TXA) directly into the wound during mastectomy surgery could reduce fluid buildup and infection. 62 women with breast cancer were split into two groups: one received TXA plus a special stitching technique, the other had stitching alone. Results showed that TXA significantly lowered fluid collection and wound infections, suggesting a safe, cheap way to improve recovery after breast cancer surgery.
