New cream tested for Tough-to-Treat skin lesions in kids
NCT ID NCT04172922
Summary
This study tested a skin cream containing the drug sirolimus (rapamycin) for children and young adults with complicated vascular anomalies, which are abnormal blood vessel growths that can be painful and disfiguring. The goal was to see if applying the cream directly to the skin could improve the appearance and symptoms of these lesions while avoiding the side effects of taking the drug by mouth. A small group of participants used the cream for up to six months while doctors monitored for changes in lesion size, pain, and other symptoms.
