Insulin eye drops could replace surgery for stubborn corneal wounds

NCT ID NCT07561398

First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether insulin eye drops can heal stubborn corneal defects as well as or better than a standard surgical transplant using amniotic membrane. About 214 adults whose corneas haven't healed after standard treatment will receive one of the two therapies. Doctors will track how many eyes fully heal and how quickly, over 24 weeks.
