Eye drops could prevent blindness from corneal melt
NCT ID NCT02987686
First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether infliximab, a drug usually given through a vein, can be safely used as eye drops to treat sterile corneal melt. Corneal melt is a serious eye condition that can lead to thinning of the cornea, leakage, or blindness. Seven adults with sterile corneal melt (not caused by infection) received the eye drops for 4 weeks. The main goal was to check for side effects and see how many patients could complete the treatment.
