First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested a new device that numbs the throat and esophagus with topical anesthesia, comparing it to standard IV sedation (propofol and ketamine) for upper GI endoscopy. Sixty adults undergoing elective endoscopy were enrolled. The goal was to see if the topical method could reduce discomfort and side effects while allowing faster recovery.
