Gout study uses 3D scans to watch lumps melt away

NCT ID NCT03965676

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at how urate-lowering therapy reduces the size of gout lumps (tophi) in the hands and feet. Researchers will use a special CT scan to measure changes over 6 months. The goal is to understand why some lumps shrink faster than others and whether this helps repair joint damage. About 50 adults with tophaceous gout who are not yet at their uric acid target will take part.
