No-Drill cavity treatments work as well as fillings in kids, study finds
NCT ID NCT07447583
First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tested three cavity treatments in 60 children aged 4 to 8. Each child got a different treatment on three teeth: a no-drill metal cap (Hall technique), a liquid that stops decay (silver diamine fluoride), or a standard filling. The goal was to see which worked best over 18 months and caused less pain. The study found that the no-drill options were just as good as fillings and were more comfortable for kids.
