Can brushing your teeth be safe during cancer treatment?
NCT ID NCT03879252
Summary
This study tested whether patients with very low blood cell counts from chemotherapy could safely brush their teeth for comfort. Currently, these patients are only allowed to use mouthwash due to bleeding and infection risks. Researchers compared tooth brushing against standard mouthwash care in 76 hospitalized patients to see if brushing caused more mouth problems, infections, or bleeding.
