Simple tongue brush could save stroke patients from deadly pneumonia

NCT ID NCT06765018

Summary

This study tested whether using a special tongue brush could help prevent dangerous lung infections in people who have had a stroke. Researchers enrolled 252 stroke patients to see if brushing the tongue reduced pneumonia and improved swallowing problems. They also checked if it lowered the amount of bacteria on the tongue and affected how long patients stayed in the hospital.
