Could brushing your tongue stop deadly pneumonia after a stroke?
NCT ID NCT06765018
Summary
This study tested whether using a special tongue brush could help prevent pneumonia in people who have had a stroke. Researchers enrolled 252 stroke patients to see if brushing the tongue reduced harmful mouth bacteria and improved swallowing problems, which are common causes of pneumonia after a stroke. The goal was to find a simple, non-drug way to lower infection risk and shorten hospital stays.
