First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This Phase 2 trial tests three different stick formulations of the antifungal drug tolnaftate (1%) for treating athlete's foot (tinea pedis). About 150 people aged 16 and older with a confirmed diagnosis will apply the stick twice daily for 4 weeks. The main goal is to see if the infection is completely cleared at week 4.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- tolnaftate 1% (antifungal) in a stick formulation
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide a more convenient and effective topical treatment for athlete's foot.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early Phase 2 trial with only 150 participants. The new stick formulations may not work better than existing treatments, and results may not apply to all types of athlete's foot.
