Heart patients get a voice: new study tests shared decision making for valve choice
NCT ID NCT05711186
First seen May 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether a structured shared decision-making process helps patients with severe aortic stenosis choose between two types of heart valve replacement (TAVR or SAVR). About 140 patients aged 70 and older will be randomly assigned to either the structured approach or usual care. The goal is to see if this method reduces confusion and regret about their treatment choice.
