New hope for cardiac arrest survivors: drug aims to calm deadly inflammation

NCT ID NCT07176754

Summary

This study is testing if a drug that blocks a specific inflammation signal (TNF-a) can help people who are still unconscious after their heart is restarted. The goal is to see if giving this drug within hours of revival improves the chance of surviving for 30 days and having good brain function. Researchers will compare the drug to a placebo in 208 patients to see if it controls the body's harmful overreaction to the cardiac arrest.
