New drug duo aims to tackle Hard-to-Treat cancers
NCT ID NCT04322006
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new drug called TJ004309, either alone or combined with another drug called Toripalimab, in 225 adults with advanced solid tumors that had stopped responding to standard treatments. The goal was to find the safest dose and see early signs of effectiveness. The trial has been completed, but results are not yet available.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
TJ004309 (antibody to CD73) and Toripalimab (antibody to PD-1)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a new combination treatment option for people with advanced solid tumors who have run out of standard therapies.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial focused on safety and dosing, so it is too soon to know if the combination will work. Side effects from the drugs may occur, and many experimental cancer therapies do not lead to approved treatments.
