Scientists grow new vaginas in lab for groundbreaking medical trial

NCT ID NCT05675722

Summary

This early-stage trial is testing a new approach for women born with vaginal aplasia, a condition where the vagina is absent or underdeveloped. Doctors take a small sample of the patient's own cells, grow them in a lab to create a vaginal tissue implant, and then surgically place it. The study will primarily check if this procedure is safe and if it improves participants' quality of life and sexual function.
