Scientists grow new corneas in lab to restore sight

NCT ID NCT04319848

Summary

This early-stage trial is testing whether a lab-grown corneal graft made from human cells is safe and effective for treating vision loss caused by corneal diseases like Fuchs' dystrophy. The study will enroll 30 adults with mild to moderate corneal damage to receive the engineered tissue graft. Researchers will monitor patients' vision, eye pressure, and check for complications over time to see if this approach can help restore sight without using donor corneas.
