Could a popular Weight-Loss drug fix irregular periods in PCOS?

NCT ID NCT07326111

Summary

This study is testing if tirzepatide, a medication already approved for weight loss and diabetes, can improve ovarian function and regulate menstrual cycles in women with PCOS who are overweight or have obesity. About 200 premenopausal women in Germany will be randomly assigned to receive either tirzepatide or a placebo (dummy injection) for 72 weeks. The main goal is to see if the drug helps make periods more regular, which is a key sign of improved ovarian health in PCOS.
