First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tested a drug called tirofiban in 516 adults who had a stroke caused by branch atheromatous disease (BAD), a type of stroke that often gets worse quickly. The goal was to see if tirofiban, given within 48 hours of stroke onset, helps more people recover to near-normal function after 90 days compared to standard antiplatelet therapy. Researchers also monitored for major bleeding risks.
