New drug tested to stop stroke worsening and improve recovery

NCT ID NCT06037889

Summary

This study tested whether a drug called tirofiban, given within 48 hours of a specific type of stroke, helps patients recover better than standard antiplatelet therapy. It involved 516 adults with a stroke caused by branch atheromatous disease (BAD), which often gets worse early on. The main goal was to see if more people could return to near-normal daily life 90 days after their stroke.
