Scientists probe nose immune loss in aging

NCT ID NCT06039527

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study looks at why older adults lose important immune cells (T cells) from their nose, which may make them more prone to lung infections. Researchers will compare young adults, healthy older adults, and frail older adults using gentle nose swabs and blood tests. The goal is to understand the mechanisms behind this immune loss, not to test a treatment.
