NCT ID NCT04551404
First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
transcranial Random Noise Stimulation (tRNS) with acoustic stimulation (white noise)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a non-invasive way to temporarily reduce tinnitus loudness and distress.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 35 people. The effects may be small or not last long, and not everyone may benefit.
