First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tested a new way to treat tinnitus (ringing in the ears) by combining gentle electrical brain stimulation with white noise. 35 adults with chronic tinnitus received either real or fake (sham) treatment to see if it could lower the loudness and distress of their symptoms. The goal was to find a safe, non-invasive option to ease tinnitus without medication.
