Dialysis timing study in septic shock halted: no clear winner
NCT ID NCT01682590
First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study looked at 500 adults in intensive care with septic shock and severe acute kidney injury. It compared starting dialysis early (within 12 hours) versus waiting 48-60 hours to see if timing affected survival at 90 days. The study was terminated early, so no firm conclusions could be drawn about which approach is better.
