Feeding clock ticked: Time-Restricted nutrition may boost stroke outcomes
NCT ID NCT06161948
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether giving tube-feeding only during an 8-12 hour window each day (instead of continuously) improves recovery in 420 severe stroke patients. Participants had either a brain bleed or clot and were followed for 90 days to see if they had less disability. The approach is simple and could be easily adopted if proven effective.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
time-restricted enteral nutrition (feeding schedule)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple feeding schedule that improves recovery after severe stroke.
What could go wrong
This is a completed trial, but results are not yet widely confirmed. The approach only applies to patients needing tube feeding, and individual responses may vary.
