Tick app aims to teach bite prevention to thousands
NCT ID NCT06880692
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a smartphone app called the Tick App can help people avoid tick bites and the diseases they carry. Up to 3,500 participants across the U.S. will use the app to log daily activities and receive educational tips on prevention, like doing tick checks and showering after outdoor time. The goal is to see if these reminders actually lead to fewer tick encounters and more prevention habits.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Educational materials delivered via the Tick App
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could help people adopt simple habits to reduce tick bites and lower the risk of tick-borne diseases.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage observational study with no direct treatment. Results depend on people accurately reporting their own behaviors, and the app may not work for everyone.
