Gel barriers tested to fight painful neck scars after thyroid operations
NCT ID NCT05851560
Summary
This study tested whether applying two gel-like barrier materials during thyroid surgery could reduce painful internal scarring afterward. The research involved 45 patients who had surgery for goiter or thyroid cancer, measuring their swallowing difficulty and scar severity. The goal was to see if these barriers could make recovery more comfortable by preventing tissues from sticking together.
