First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tested whether a numbing injection (nerve block) in the neck improves recovery after thyroid surgery. 160 adults were randomly given either the numbing medicine or a saltwater placebo while under anesthesia. The main goal was to see if the block led to a better recovery experience on the first day after surgery, measured by a detailed patient survey.
