Doctors track 10-Year results: is watching or cutting better for tiny thyroid tumors?

NCT ID NCT04624477

Summary

This study follows 450 adults with very small, low-risk thyroid cancers to see how often two different approaches achieve their long-term goals. Patients choose either 'active surveillance' (close monitoring with surgery only if the cancer grows) or immediate surgery. Researchers will track outcomes for up to 10 years to see how often each approach succeeds or requires additional treatment.
