New ultrasound model may help doctors choose the right surgery for thyroid cancer

NCT ID NCT07357571

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at 600 people with early-stage papillary thyroid cancer to see if a special ultrasound (contrast-enhanced ultrasound) can better predict how many lymph nodes have cancer. Knowing the amount of spread helps doctors decide the best treatment, like removing just part of the thyroid or the whole gland. The goal is to improve accuracy so patients get the right surgery without unnecessary procedures.
