First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how long people need to wear a cast after thumb arthritis surgery. Some patients will wear a cast for 2 weeks, others for 6 weeks. The goal is to see if a shorter cast time leads to less stiffness and faster return to daily activities. About 90 adults aged 40 and older having thumb joint replacement surgery will take part.
