New drug aims to tame dangerous heart rhythms in genetic disorder

NCT ID NCT07277582

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether the drug THRV-1268 can safely shorten the heart's electrical recovery time (QT interval) in people with Long QT Syndrome Type 2, a genetic condition that raises the risk of dangerous heart rhythms and sudden cardiac arrest. About 64 participants will take the drug twice daily at different doses for 6 weeks, with heart monitoring and clinic visits. The goal is to find a dose that works best and is safe, with the possibility of continuing treatment for up to a year.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

THRV-1268

What this could lead to

If it works, this could provide a new treatment option to control heart rhythm and reduce the risk of dangerous events in people with Long QT Syndrome Type 2.

What could go wrong

This is an early-to-mid-stage trial with only 64 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug may cause side effects or fail to shorten the QT interval effectively.
