Robotic surgery position may squeeze breathing tube, causing sore throats

NCT ID NCT07242144

Summary

This study looked at whether the special tilted position used during robotic prostate cancer surgery increases pressure in the breathing tube, leading to more sore throats and hoarseness after surgery. Researchers monitored 50 men having either robotic or traditional open prostate surgery to see if tube pressure changed during the procedure. They checked patients for throat symptoms like pain and difficulty swallowing at 2 and 24 hours after waking up from anesthesia.
