First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special type of acupuncture, called thread embedding acupuncture, can reduce pain and improve quality of life for people who donate a kidney through keyhole surgery. 32 healthy kidney donors were randomly assigned to receive either real thread acupuncture at a specific back point or a sham version without the thread, along with standard pain care. The researchers measured pain levels and quality of life over 14 days to see if the thread acupuncture provided extra benefits.
