New thin plate could reduce ankle surgery complications

NCT ID NCT07365202

First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at a new, thinner metal plate used in surgery to fix a common type of ankle fracture. The goal is to see if this plate causes fewer skin problems and less long-term discomfort than standard plates, so patients may not need a second surgery to remove it. About 40 adults who need this surgery will be followed for one year to check bone healing, skin recovery, and whether the plate causes any issues.
