NCT ID NCT05480943
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looked at how often thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency occurs in hospitalized veterans who do not abuse alcohol. Thiamine deficiency can cause symptoms like fatigue, confusion, and weakness, and may be more common in veterans due to food insecurity and chronic illness. Researchers measured blood thiamine levels in 206 veterans and also examined links to inflammation and diet. The goal was to better understand who is at risk and what blood level truly indicates a deficiency.
