Talk therapy shows promise for boosting brain function in schizophrenia
NCT ID NCT07477301
Summary
This small study tested whether adding structured supportive talk therapy to standard schizophrenia medication (risperidone) could improve thinking skills and reduce body inflammation better than medication alone. It involved 46 men with recent schizophrenia diagnoses over 6 weeks. The group that received both therapy and medication showed improvements in cognitive tests and lower inflammation markers compared to those on just medication.
