First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 29, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looked at whether therapeutic touch—a gentle, non-medical hand technique—applied during vaginal birth can help reduce pain, anxiety, and the feeling of a traumatic birth. Sixty-six pregnant women with low-risk pregnancies took part. Researchers measured pain, anxiety levels, and traumatic birth perception using standard scales. The goal was to see if this simple, drug-free approach could improve the childbirth experience.
