Simple blood tests may spot insulin resistance without fasting insulin

NCT ID NCT07260201

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at whether two easy-to-get blood test scores (TGI and TGI-BMI) can detect insulin resistance as well as the standard HOMA-IR test, which requires a special insulin blood draw. Researchers analyzed data from 150 adults and found that both simpler tests were highly accurate, especially the TGI-BMI in people with obesity. These findings could make screening for insulin resistance cheaper and more accessible in routine checkups.
